Thoughts and folds, 5f x 4.5ft

In 2006 my father passed away. I produced a body of work for a solo show about my grieving process. I used myself as my model, from above, like an outsider looking in. The intricacy of the folds relates to the depth of emotions that I felt while also offering comfort and strength that I had to find. I am often in a fetal pose, expressing the helplessness. This body of paintings addresses the stages of grief that we go through: denial, depression, anger and acceptance.
